Yo! My President is Black.

It’s been a week since history has been made in this country! We finally opened our eyes and realized that we needed a change. But, it’s unfortunate we damn near hit rock bottom before coming to our senses. After centuries of existence, we finally elected the 1st Black president to lead the USA. This is MAJOR! It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here. The question is: can we handle it? We’ve got our backs against the wall- an extremely vulnerable position to be in, unless we can unite [just like we did on Tuesday Nov. 4th 2008, the historical Election Day that will always be remembered] for the next four years and defend the man we elected into office. Although he’s not officially our forefront man as of yet- at least not until his Inauguration in Jan. ’09, he continuously promised that he would deliver change for this nation. Just like his predecessors, the men who once led this country, President-elect Obama is obviously capable of enduring the task ahead of him, despite the many obstacles that will arise. Only time can tell how much progress we’re actually making as a country, but presently, you have to be blind to overlook how great of an influence this distinguished gentleman has had on humanity on a global scale. He has affected so many people in and outside of the United States; it’s incredible to even fathom the extent of his reach. He has found a way to empathize and address the people of America, without being condescending or giving the impression of being too superior in intellect or character. He has proven- time and time again; he’s a normal American citizen that has the innate ability to evoke a sense of hope into a despondent nation that hasn’t felt this way about their country in ages. Can he do it successfully? I have total faith in him and the records clearly illustrate the majority does as well. Is it going to be a grueling task? Of course it is. Nothing that comes easy in life is worth it. Unconditional support, however, is what Barack Obama really needs during his reign as the 44th President of the United States. C’mon folks! We, as a nation, gave former President Bush eight entire years [in my opinion, two undeserved & doubtful terms] to try his hand at presidency and now we’re at the bottom of the barrel. It’s only fair we give Obama an equal chance to level the playing field. We owe it to ourselves! If you can’t do it for yourself, then do it for the precious woman that gave birth to you. That’s right, OBAMA FOR YA MAMA!!!

Utilizing your Rights.

You are almost out of time y'all. Today is the last day for New York State resident voter registration, so if you haven't "What you waiting fo'?" Send out a mass text message &/email, scream at the top of your lungs in a crowded area, and yes- it is that serious! It's elementary. No relaxing until the goal is accomplished, just like when you were younger and your mom/pop said you couldn't play until your room was clean. We can't rest until we do all we can to help clean up our room, America. I feel like a preacher and in a way we all have to be advocates for the right because if you don't stand for rights, you're probably doing wrong.

Stock Market is funny, Justice system hilarious...We have become a joke.

Basic Survival: Put up the peace sign. Put the index down...

So I awoke this morning as any other morning thanking God for seeing another day and asking for guidance thru this one for my family and friends. But my mind started going on the meaning of friendship and all that it entails (actually for a couple of days now). I know a good amount of people and as kool as they are, I do not consider all of them my friends. People are put in your life for some sort of reason, some to ride with you, and some that ride against you. But we cannot forget the ones that want to ride around you- often seeming to be all for you, when in actuality they are watching your every move to take over. Not meaning conquering you, but conquering what you have acquired: self confidence, good friends, your sense of style, and even love. They might have been called in the past leeches, or as 389 Crew might call them "aliens," but someone once told me a term that I believe explains it well: "Frenamy." Yes, readers- in this day in age, you have to be on the lookout for those who are afraid to create their own atmosphere, think of an original idea, and definitely the ones that are dangerously in support of you. So keep the close ones close and weed out the maybes.

It's not a joke, it's REAL life!

So that debate last nite was a breakthrough I feel for both candidates. John McCain had a strong intro and conclusion, with a very cocky demeanor that was strengthened every time he thought he had Obama stuck on an issue. But I guess that's the fundamental difference between the two candidates. One starts strong with all he's got, while the other spreads out his info taking his time to say exactly what he wants to say and saving the jabs for key moments. At one point Obama was commenting on issues in Afghanistan when he gave McCain a complement in which he quickly showed teasing gratification and then exposed a joke that McCain thought was private between another government official. Talk about face breaking again showing the true character and intent of Senator McCain. It was funny as hell. Please check YouTube... Google... for Senator McCain picking up his face off the floor. I can't continue to stress that we have to be responsible.

Kuts

Check it out

Last night I ended up at Webster Hall by invite from a friend of mine. This duo band by the name of Chromeo was playing but I have never heard of them. The place was packed with excitement, drunks, drugs... got my VIP pass (HOLLA!), headed to the thirst quench stand (Patron shot) just in time for Chromeo to enter the stage and start spewing a funkadelic electronic fusion of 80's, 70's, Hip Hop and Rock & Roll. HOTTAH! I am definitely a fan now. MySpace and/or Google them and get back.... Would love to know what you think.

Be blessed

Get out and VOTE

So we are almost down to the wire y'all. For all the New York State residents, the last day for voter registration is OCTOBER 10th. Please, if you can and haven't already registered to vote, please do so at:

And for those of you who are living in New York but aren't from New York and want your vote to be counted with your home town, you can visit the same web site which gives you the info for all states (absentee ballots).

We cannot afford (literally) to turn a blind eye to this election. It is one of the most important elections in American history not only because for the first time we have an American of African descent as one of the major candidates but look around, pick up a newspaper, or even just talk to your neighbors... a lot has changed. The gap between upper class and middle class has broadened almost astronomically. If the BushMcCainPallin ideology continues, the Super Power America as we have known it will go from a strong standing high rise to a one room ranch house. Now that's TRUTH. Not telling you who to vote for (F**K It - Vote ObamaBiden or that's yo' ass), but think good and hard before making your decision.

Be Blessed
Kuts aka KuTTy aka Get registered or I will KuT YOU!

We apologize!

The BKBOYEEZ would like to formally apologize for our absence in the past few weeks. We've received several e-mails and text messages from our concerned fans and supporters wondering what's really good with the blog. We haven't abandoned it, but have had several executive meetings in an effort to slightly modify our existing concept. Over the past few weeks, we and many Americans have endured different financial and personal setbacks. Despite these obstacles, we refuse to allow these trying times to stifle our lofty goals for the BKBOYEEZ brand. Life is an experience that is meant to be conquered and it hasn't killed us yet, so we can only hope that it's making us stronger. Nevertheless, we'll resume our duty of bringing you the very best in Urban lifestyle, upcoming fashion, the lastest in this monumental political election, and what's really good in the music & entertainment industry.

We got this! Just stay tuned....

The Beat of Your Own Drum!
Ever been to someone's house that's painted in various Earth tones and is totally decked out with tribal African accents? I'm talking the works-wooden sculptures, animal prints, burning candles & therapeutic incense- where you can't help but kick back and enjoy the Feng Shui. Well it'll be dope if you suggest (or maybe even purchase as the holiday season is soon approaching) a unique piece of your own- like a set of Djembe HiFi Speakerdrums. There's nothing more stimulating than drums and with that idea in mind, this manufacturer wired speakers in the core of the drums optimizing power and creativity thus creating great sound and a hell of a conversation piece. It'll blow you away! Get into it.

WANTED: Fashion & Art Junky.
It's unfortunate that I caught on to her game in the late summer, but I'm sure she's continuing to do it way big for the Fall. Her name is Chanel Kennebrew and she brands her crafts as JunkPrints, but it sure doesn't look like junk to me. These pieces of art are an edgy pile of its own. From tees to tanktops, hoodies and handbags, dresses and even prints, she has devised a way to impose some of her own style & artistic flair into these prized possessions. Add all that up with a winning smile (she's beautiful y'all) and you can consider me sold!

Ailey at the Airport?

Alvin Ailey, one of the most prestigous dance institutions in NYC, has annual performances at City Center, has their beautiful bodies showcased throughout the city and tours worldwide, but don't you find it crazy that one of their dancers was recently detained by Israeli airport security because of his Muslim name? Abdur-Rahim Jackson. Sounds pretty urban to me, but these security officers just had to make sure. I dunno y'all- sounds kinda shady to me too, but Jackson says it has happened to him before "when he returned to the United States from a trip to the Dominican Republic." Imagine going on a six-nation tour, watching your fiancee clear passport control & when it's your turn- security is summoned. You know being a Black man you have to remain contained & composed but you also have to do or say something quick. Luckily, Jackson was used to the routine and up for an additional solo performance because they weren't buying his Alvin Ailey brochures- including photos of him dancing. After dancing for them and answering a few more questions, they let him go advising him to "change his name". What's up with that? Some things still ain't right.

Monique Lhuillier: Spring '09

There's nothing worse than waking up at 9am to go to work. Pretty dull morning, don't you think? How about waking up to go see noted fashion designer, Monique Lhuillier, in the tents at Bryant Park for New York's Fashion Week. Any takers? ...Yeah, I bet. This one is for you Ladies. Though the weather wasn't the greatest, we went out in good spirits to witness her Spring '09 collection-Luxurious Island Tropic Chic. She effortlessly brought it to us again, this time incorporating "dry crisp fabrics, straw-braiding techniques, basket patterns and wave prints." She took us thru a beautiful Spring day in the life of THAT B!*%H! You know the women y'all (yes, y'all LADIES!) subconsciously envy because she's always on her A game- morning, noon and at night. The Monique Lhuillier woman is always dressed & she knows she's HOTTAH than THEM ALL! Check these pieces out & maybe you can try putting yourself together more creatively than her someday...
